Its a good idea to fill your tank in major centres before hitting the nullabor and to top up in every one because the price is so high and it is always good to keep your tank full. having said that there are signs showing the range to the next town quite regualrly so as long as you know the average fuel comsumption of your car you should be good.good luck.p.s. make sure you are a member of NRMA/RAA/RACQ etc because if your not you might as well torch your car for the cost of towing it. and carry lots of coolent or at least some emergency water.cheers.
